Welcome Ollie Butterwick

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Ollie Butterwick joins the team as More Than A Cyclist ambassador!

Ollie is a primary school teacher who is married with two young sons. He has been cycling since his teens and he created York Rouleurs CC in 2014 to promote social cycling and improve the relationship between cyclists and motorists. In 2016 he was nominated for Outstanding Contribution to Sport in York, following the first couple of years' successes of the Club. Following a crash in 2019, Ollie documented his recovery and in a change of perspective his focus moved to promote mental health awareness and the multitude of health benefits of cycling. He later created Boston Spa CC with the same mission as York Rouleurs.

He says "I am excited to be a part of all that More Than A Cyclist is doing, given my own experiences on the bike. Unfortunately, I'm seeing increasing animosity towards cyclists from some motorists when I'm out on the road. This can be in city centres, quiet villages and even the countryside. They seem unaware that we too are individuals with families and livelihoods. It's only through speaking about this and working together that we can change things.

I am more than a cyclist. I'm a primary school teacher, a father, a husband, a brother, a son, a mental health advocate and a friend"
